Meet Mrs. Suzette White

My husband, a school teacher, professor, and administrator, and I shared a passion for education.  During our 48 years together we spent our lives devoted to teaching children and improving the educational system to better serve our charges. As a result, educating and nurturing children is my life.  I have a son, a beloved daughter-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren.  When St. Anthony School needed a fifth grade teacher I was invited to fill the position.  That turned out to be one of the greatest blessings in my life.  At St. Anthony I am allowed and encouraged to create a child centered classroom environment created by the students, the teacher and parents as partners.  I am a very hands-on teacher implementing guided exploration, new experiences and technology--all carefully balancing the old methods with the new.  I believe that as teachers we must provide the most positive, "well-lit" , loving place for our children for the hours they are with us because God has entrusted them with us.  Catholic schools are havens of Godly love and we, as teachers, are blessed to fulfill His mission of preparing His children for the future with love, spirituality, and the Catholic faith.

Education/Experience:

I have a B.S. in Elementary Education with a specialization in Physical Education from Texas A&I University. I have completed the Sharon Wells math training plus numerous courses from the Region II Education Service Center.  I have 15 hours past my bachelor's degree.  In 1994 I was selected as Region II Education Service Center Teacher of the Year and  Ricardo ISD Teacher of the Year.  I have completed 37 plus years in education having taught kinder through fifth grade physical education, second through fifth self contained classroom, sixth grade language arts and third through fifth Gifted and Talented.  I served as a mentor teacher for numerous college students completing their student teaching.  I coached Picture Memory, Story Telling, and Ready Writing for UIL.  Additionally, I also assisted with the drama productions at Driscoll School, Ricardo School and Epiphany Episcopal School.

Communication Methods:

Although technology is an amazing tool, I love writing notes to my parents because the notes seem more personal.  I also use emails both individually and as a group as a means of communication.  Parents may write notes, email or schedule conferences.

Favorites:

I love being with my family.  My son is a former teacher who is now running our 55 year old, three generations, family flower shop.  My daughter-in-law is a teacher at St. Anthony and my grandchildren are students at the school.  I love P.F. Chang's and seafood! My favorite color is pink.  I am a New York Yankee fan and a University of Texas fan.  I love basketball and volleyball.  Saint Francis of Assisi is my favorite saint.  And........"Do unto others....." says everything about me.
